How I Spent $10,000 in a Day
Today I spent $10,000, which is crazy in a different context, but in my particular situation it’s a very good thing.
My tax return plus my paycheck both came on Friday, and today I not only took care of my usual monthly bills, but I also spent my tax return on everything I said I was going to.
I paid back 3 of the 4 remaining people that loaned us money for the down-payment on the house, which totaled $775. I paid off my mustang completely, 2 years early, which totaled about $6k. And I put the rest towards my dads loan, which was about $2.2k, leaving us about over $2.5k left to pay off.
Now I might be broke, but I’m broke with no car payment, my house paid till April, all my bills paid, and my friends made happy. Not to mention still a hefty emergency savings 🙂
Honestly paying off the car feels so good. Knowing I won’t have a car payment anymore -ever- is just an awesome feeling. And by “ever” I mean, the next car I get is going to be paid for in cash, no more of this car payment BS.
Back in September when we were buying the house, I kept thinking to myself “how am I going to afford a house payment -and- a car payment?”. And it was tough, I’m not going to lie. I really had to scrimp in order to pull it off, but I did it.
Now that it’s paid off though, a weight is lifted off my shoulders. Not that I can stop scrimping, because I still have more things to pay off, but none of those things have interest, and they can all be pushed back if necessary. I intend to have my dad debt free besides the house this year.
