Computer is Dead and Getting Used to Space
My computer died last night. I’ve tried everything to get it to boot, but it doesn’t get past the Windows screen. I have a new hard drive on the way so I can get some stuff off the old one. Ironically I was going to backup everything onto my external HD today. If I had just done it yesterday, then I could have just wiped everything clean *grumble*.
Ah well. I’m temporarily on my laptop till then.
The weirdest thing I’ve noticed about the house that I’m having difficulty getting used to, is the space.
At the old house, I felt like I was basically living with my father in -his- house. I mean I’m the one that moved in after he had his stroke in 2001. Everything I owned was being piled into either the nasty garage, or my little 10×12 bedroom. And I mean everything.
When I’d come home from work, I’d make sure to keep all of my belongings in my room. My shoes, my scarf, my jacket, my bag, books, decorations etc.
But now that we’re in this house, which is -our- house, I’m having a hard time remembering that I can put things elsewhere. I can put my jacket in the closet downstairs, I can put my bathroom supplies in my bathroom, I don’t have to try and shove all of my wall hangings in my bedroom, they can be spread out.
It’s just a weird habit to get into. I’m used to having everything close to me, crammed into a very small space. Having room to spread out is something I have to get used to.
I’m also currently inundated with ladybugs. Which really doesn’t bother me that much, because I know they like to swarm where aphids are. And since aphids kill plants, I’m fine with dealing with some ladybugs temporarily.
