Update on Dad’s Leg

Update on Dad’s Leg

We suspect another month or two and my father’s leg will be fully healed of ulcer wounds. We are likely going to continue the new drug to see if it helps more with the lack of oxygen that gets to his leg and maybe it will actually start to heal and not be purple all the time. (Putting the rest behind a cut in case people get grossed out)

One thing my dad has noticed is the lack of seeping from the ulcer. Not only that, but the wound actually bleeds now when they remove the bandage that is kept on it all the time. It used to -always- seep and soak through his sock, now it doesn’t, which is a good sign. It also used to never bleed, I guess due to the lack of bloodflow, and now it does, which is also a good sign.

If it fully heals he’ll no longer have to go to the wound care center weekly which will probably save us $100-$150 month in gas, as well as $112 a month in co-pay fees. So it could potentially save us $250 a month, which will be a lot easier on my finances 🙂

  1. A lot of things really, it started with a leg injury from falling off a roof that damaged a lot of veins due to blood clots from the injury. Complications from diabetes are only making things harder 🙂
